The Sunburst Lamp is a proof of concept prototype. I wanted to create a lamp that gave the user a more engaging and tactile experience instead of a boring toggle switch or rotary dimmer. This prototype wall mounted lamp consists of six LED-lit “blades” that stack on top of each other and rotate around a central hub. As the user rotates the stack, each blade locks into position and allows power to flow to the next blade in the sequence. The fixture grows brighter as more blades are revealed. The entire fixture can be switched on and off with a toggle switch located on the axis of rotation.
