Plumb Table Lamp

This project is actually the reason I’m in college. I was working for a company that uses PVC pipe for ventilation systems. I was inside a dark attic on a particularly sunny day and noticed that the PVC pipe poking through the roof transmitted a pleasant yellow-orange glow from the sunlight shining through. The company had no use for short pipe cutoffs, so I began saving the cutoffs and experimenting with turning PVC on a a lathe in my free time. After many iterations, I wound up with minimalist table lamp ideal for a nightstand or living room mood light. Then I had the thought: “Maybe I should be in design school.”
